What we do
Derby U3A is part of a world-wide organisation dedicated to retired people of any age who want to continue to learn in the company of others. In addition to our academic activities there are walks, bridge sessions and games of bowls.
No formal qualifications are required, neither are any awarded. All that is needed is a willingness to share one's knowledge and to learn from others.
Study groups form the basis of any U3A and these are organised by members. You can find more information on all these by clicking on the link to the relevant group in the left-hand menu.
Our year is divided into three terms. We meet monthly on Thursday afternoons from 2pm to 3.45 pm, when there is a speaker for approximately one hour. This is followed by refreshments and an opportunity to talk to each other. The talks are varied, often illustrated, and are chosen to reflect different tastes and interests.Invariably there is something for everyone.
We have sixteen Groups, which are all organised by members.New groups are always welcome.
One or two excursions to places of interest take place each year.
Why not come along and meet us, make friends, and develop new interests with like-minded people?
